Uduak Ubak’s Blog: Arise, O Compatriots. Let’s Make Nigeria Better!

Finally the 29th of May 2015 has come and gone, and there is a new government in Nigeria.

It’s been a long journey reaching this point. For most people, life as they know it has been slow because of the many uncertainties the country has faced. Businesses have been slow, events few, cost of living higher, insecurities loads of them and some people relocating.

Thank God all of that is behind us now as we have a new government promising change and we hope it’s change for the better.

    Even though as a people we are expecting a lot from this government, we as individuals also have a lot to contribute in making our country a better one;
    • by standing for honesty,
    • shunning corruption in any form,
    • taking the time to do the right thing even if it’s as little as taking the pedestrian bridge instead of running across a major high way.
Our responsibilities are summarized in our (Nigerian) national anthem.
    Arise, O Compatriots”
    Arise, O compatriots,
    Nigeria’s call obey
    To serve our Fatherland
With love and strength and faith.
The labour of our heroes past
    Shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.
    O God of all creation
    Direct our noble cause
    Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
    And living just and true
    Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
    And justice shall reign.

So let’s join hands and make our country better , one day at a time.

    God bless Nigeria!
